Pervis Gibson, Jr. was born October 30, 1954, to Pervis Gibson, Sr., and Dorothy Gibson in Ward, South Carolina. He gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
Pervis was a graduate of Ridge Spring Monetta High School in 1972. He attended Aiken Technical College and was a certified welder. He began working at Derrick’s Hardware in his hometown before beginning his career at United Parcel Service. He worked with the company for 32 years, serving in a variety of roles ranging from package handler to working in management at the end of his tenure. After retiring from the company, Pervis dedicated his work to being an entrepreneur as a general contractor.
Pervis married the love of his life, Sharon D. Gibson, in 1987. They celebrated 34 years of marriage and had three beautiful daughters. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful musician and loved playing the trumpet. A devoted man of God, Pervis enjoyed preaching the gospel and served the Lord faithfully. Pervis was known for his words of wisdom and encouragement. He had a kind, generous spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His favorite scripture was Psalm 37: 3-4 and his favorite book of the Bible was James.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his wife, Sharon D. Gibson; three daughters, Andrea G. (Maurice) Mitchell, Amakia Gibson, and Arteria Gibson; mother, Dorothy Gibson; two sisters, Diane G. (Lewis) Burt and Janice (Bernard) Johnson; one brother, Vernon Gibson; one aunt, Bernice Wise; one sister-in-law, Tonya (Robert) Holmes; four brothers-in-law, Billy Dorn, Derrick (Marlena) Dorn, Michael Dorn, and Tony Dorn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.
