Mr. Michael Terry Obituary

Michael Donnell Terry was born on October 12, 1955, in Arlington, Virginia to the late Annette Terry and Lewis Cornell. He fought a long battle with metastatic renal carcinoma. He passed peacefully at 7 Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Columbia, South Carolina.

He attended Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia and joined the army after. He found his faith and belief in our Lord and Savior at an early age. He was baptized at Bethlehem Church, College Place under the late Reverend Charles A. Faulk. He was a trustee at Zion Chapel Baptist No.1 under the leadership of the late Dr. Andrew J. Chishom. He was determined to learn more of the word of God therefore, he followed one of the sons of Zion Chapel and later became a deacon and a minister at the Greater Faith Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor David A. Johnson. His final affiliation was with The Brook, Under Bishop Simon and Pastor Nikkie Moultrie, of Columbia, South Carolina. Michael later became known as “Dee” to many that he met.

Michael was well known to make you smile and eventually, laughing until you cried. He never knew a stranger. His work ethic was that of a man of integrity; he wouldn’t stop until he got it right or until it was done. He has held many positions when it came to environmental Services. He wore many hats from starting position, training, shift leader and eventually Supervisor. He has held many jobs that include floor technician to supervisor. He was employed at the City of Columbia as a maintenance repair technician, United Janitorial Services, William Services Incorporated, Prisma Baptist Medical Center, Richland and Providence, all of Columbia, South Carolina. He continued in the workforce with Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community, West Columbia, USC, Midlands Technical College (NC) and he had his own Floor Tech/ Environmental Services on the side. He was definitely a “worker bee”. He was passionate about his work.

Michael was proceeded in death by his Maternal Grandmother, Lizzie Mae Terry, Mother, and only father he knew, uncle Kenny Terry, oldest sister, Donna Terry and his second oldest daughter, Kemonai Terry – Dizzley.
