Mr. Leander Proudy Obituary

Retired MSG Enos Leander Proudy, Jr. was born June 5, 1944 in Clarksville, Tennessee. He was one of five children born to Enos Leander Proudy, Sr. and Tommie Marie James. He departed this life on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.

Mr. Proudy was educated in the public schools of Montgomery County Tennessee, graduating from Burt High School Class of 1962. In his younger years, his love of the Lord was instilled in him as a member of St. Peter AME Church in Clarksville, Tennessee. His love for the Lord continued on in his adult years attending Daniel Circle Chapel on Ft. Jackson and then as a member of Christian Faith Fellowship in Columbia, South Carolina.  Along with his love of the Lord, he loved his wife, children, family, friends, clothes and cooking.

After high school, he worked in a fine men’s clothing store (this is where his love of clothes began).  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1967. During his army career, he married Joyce Ann Pepper Reeves.  Their union bore two sons, Gerald and Terrence. Leander was a Vietnam Veteran who was awarded various medals for bravery and valor. He retired, after twenty-six years of military service, with the rank of Master Sergeant.

Leander was preceded in death by his parents, Enos, Sr. and Tommie James; sisters, Nannie Mae Taylor and Emma Lee Webb; and a brother, Thomas A. Proudy.

Mr. Leander Proudy, Jr. leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Joyce Pepper Proudy; two sons, Gerald DeWayne Proudy and Terrence Demetric Proudy; brother, James (Peggy) Proudy; one grandchild and two great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends, all of whom will truly miss him.
