Mr. Kevin Williams, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Kevin Lance Williams, Sr., age 61, departed from us on January 27, 2022, in his home. Kevin was born on October 20, 1960, in Norwalk, CT, to the late Corrise Graham and Essie Williams.  Kevin experienced the tragic deaths of 2 of his brothers, and because of it never expected to live past the age of 24, but God had other plans for him.

He was educated in the Norwalk school system, where he graduated a year early from Brien McMahan High School.  He then went on to join the United States Marines Corps (1977) and served at Camp LeJeune until he was honorably discharged in 1981. Kevin attended Midlands Technical College where he studied Counseling. He was a member of Who’s Who Among Students in America, The National Society of Leadership and Success with Sigma Alpha Pi. He was also a vital part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) at NorthStar Christian Center.

Kevin was a very hard worker. He had a brief career as a truck driver, owned 2 tax franchises, and was a Master Chef.  He had many talents but was best known for his cooking – particularly his fried chicken wings, brisket, ribs, and steak. He knew everything there was to know about taxes and had clients who depended on his skills and advice. He was a diehard New England Patriots, and Tom Brady fan. Whether he was cooking, teaching, or spreading the word of GOD, Kevin made sure that people felt loved and important.

At an early age, he became a member of Grace Baptist Church in Norwalk, CT where he worshipped for many years. Kevin was called to ministry and fulfilled his mission of preaching the gospel and outreach to the lost, especially at the Women’s Prison in Virginia. While living in Virginia, he took care of his mom until her timely death in 2011.

When he moved to Columbia, he met the love of his life, and became a member of NorthStar Christian Center where he worshipped until his passing. Kevin was a genuine caretaker. Not only was he a loving husband, but a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend.  Kevin never met anyone that he did not befriend.  He loved to entertain and made everyone feel at home.  Although Kevin was not a perfect man, he allowed God to mold him into a man of integrity, one who encouraged, and prayed fervently for others. Kevin loved from his soul. He had an infectious smile that would brighten anyone’s day.  He often said what was on his mind whether you liked it or not.  You could aways depend on a phone call or some type of communication from Kevin, especially on your birthday or anniversary, usually at 6:00 in the morning. He was a true definition of a “GEM”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Corrise, Jr., Rudolph, Bennie, and Carnell; sisters: Ernestine and Gwendolyn.  He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Antoinette, children: Tamisha, Kevin, Shyisha, Anthony, Tai Adam, Marcus, Sean, Andre, and Elijah.  He also leaves to mourn his bonus children (he did not believe in the term ‘step-children’) Anthony (Deana), Kevin (Stephanie), Mikel (Mercedes), LaKeisha, Joshua, Keyshanna, and Darren. Siblings: Cynda, Gloria (Billy), Faye (Joe), Natalie, and brother Allan. Mother-in-law Georgia Lovett, Sisters-in-law: Deborah, Susan (Larry), Brother-in-law: Jeffrey (Tina) and a host of aunts, uncles, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In the words of this very intelligent, handsome black man, “Y’all Gonna Miss All Dis!” Semper Fi!
