Mr. Kamal Najee Obituary

Kamal Mateen Nagee 7X, née Tony Addison, blessed this earth with his presence on December 26, 1973 in Sumter, South Carolina. He was the son of Tony Leonard and the late Emma Lou Addison. Kamal’s heavenly ascension began when his earthly journey tragically ended on February 24, 2020.

Kamal lived in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania for a few of his early childhood years. At the age of 9, Kamal returned to Sumter, South Carolina where he was reared, raised and molded. He was educated in the public school systems of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and Sumter County, South Carolina. He attended Sumter High School and the school of “hard knocks”.

Kamal was an avid reader, poet and writer. He loved to fish and work with his hands. He dedicated his life to his wife, children and reconnecting with his family after an extended time away from his loved ones.  Anyone who knew him, knew Kamal was a hard worker, a strong protector of his loved ones and a philosopher and seeker of knowledge.

Kamal was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Lou Addison.

Kamal leaves to mourn his life and cherish his precious memory his loving and devoted wife, Ruth D. Nagee; daughter, Samaiya Egypt; son, Kai’el Aziyon Mateen; father, Tony (Debra) Leonard; eight sisters, Emma Addison, Sabrina (Eric) Wright, LaToshia Myers, LaTanya (Leroy) Dixon, Carnethia Abrams, Stephanie Addison, Antonet Abrams and Chloe Leonard; six brothers, David Addison, Sentell (Kenyetta) Abrams, Tony Abrams, Troy Abrams, Billy Addison and Christian Leonard; mother-in-law, Fatima Muhammad; father-in-law, James Beckford; stepfather-in-law, Anthony Thomas; four sisters-in-law, Sherrie Green, Crystal Patterson, Jamelia Beckford, and Kendra Beckford; four brothers-in-law, Rodny Campbell, James Beckford, Jr., Kevin (Crystal) Beckford and Bilal Muhammad; nephew and godson, Bilal J. Muhammad; a special niece, Keyanna Addison; special cousin, Samantha Black; special uncle, Abe Black, Jr.; friend, Joetta Fullard; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.
