Joseph Archer was born on September 27, 1955 to Lewis Tony Archer and Queen Esther Scott on St. Helena Island, South Carolina. He was their third son, and the eighth of nine children. On September 10, 2024, God suddenly called Joseph home and he crossed his bridge to eternity in Aiken, South Carolina.
Joseph, affectionately known as "Pete" or "Van", accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized in Detroit, Michigan. While in Detroit, Joseph worked for General Motors for several years before returning home.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Queen Esther Archer; two sisters, Cathleen A. Randolph and Irene A. Major; and two brothers, Franklin Archer and Lewis Lee Archer.
Joseph is survived by his four sisters, Geraldine A. (Johnnie) Major, Rachel A. (Joseph) McNeil, Catherine A. (William) Kelly, and Frances Archer; foster mother, Eleanor Pope Kemp; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
