John E. Johnson, also affectionately called “JJ”, was born on March 6, 1937 to the late Beaute L. Sanders and Roosevelt Johnson. JJ was educated in the Newberry County schools of Whitmire, SC. After high school, JJ joined the United States Army and spent his formative years in Washington, DC and New York, before retiring and returning to Whitmire in his mid 60s.
During his sojourned in the land of the living, he served his country faithfully in the United States Army and the Army National Guard. JJ was a proud service man, who made friends very easily, and had a giving heart, with a thankful spirit. We know that JJ will be missed; however, we have joy in knowing that God needs him now, and his spirit is at rest.
JJ was preceded in death by his parents, Beaute L Sanders Glymph and Roosevelt Johnson; one grandchild, and a host of aunts and uncles.
