Mr. John Eargle Obituary

John Eargle was born May 12, 1949 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Isaiah and Dorothy Eargle. He departed this earthly life on November 13, 2020. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, John managed his illness with strength and grace and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible.  On his final day, he was surrounded by his family, who he adored more than anything else in the world.

John was educated in the Richland County Public School System and was a graduate of Richlex High School class of 1968. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy from April 1969 to March 1971. John retired as a professional truck driver after more than forty years.

John was a devoted father and grandfather. One of his biggest accomplishments was being a father.  His children and grandchildren called him a superhero and, even as adults, still see him that way.  He was always there for them through their ups and downs and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer. He enjoyed life and loved to make people laugh. To know him was to love him; he loved everyone and never met a stranger.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Isaiah and Dorothy Eargle; brothers, Joseph Eargle, James Eargle, Moses Eargle, Simpson Eargle, Timothy Eargle, and Ted Eargle; and sister, Mary Cohens.

John leaves to cherish his memory are two daughters, Yolanda (James) Gantt and LaKeisha (Daniel) McGowan; two sons, Michael (Marie) Eargle and John (Yuko) Eargle; six sisters, Martha (Samuel) Clark, Margarett Richardson, Willa Mae Dreher, Betty Simons, Peggy (Leslie) Hogg and Marie Eargle; five brothers, Leon (Gloria) Eargle, Preston (Arlitta) Eargle, Carl Eargle, Howard Eargle, Harry Eargle; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
