Jimmy Hasty was born on January 23, 1960, in Sumter County, South Carolina. He was
the son to the late David Hasty, Sr. and the late Eva Byrd Hasty. On Sunday, February
2, 2025, God sent his angels and called him home to eternal rest.
Jimmy was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He was a 1978 graduate
of Sumter High School. After graduating, Jimmy enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After serving
in the U.S. Navy, he reenlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve, serving until he retired
completing 20 years of service to his country. He was a Desert Storm War Veteran. He
continued his post-secondary education at Greenville Technical College, where he
received his Associates Degree in Physical Therapy. Jimmy was employed at
Providence Hospital as a Physical Therapist for a number of years. He also worked in
Home Health with Amedisys Home Health.
Jimmy had a personal relationship with God. We know that it is well with his soul and he
rests in the arms of our heavenly father. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, brother,
and friend. He never met a stranger and had a wealth of knowledge regarding
numerous topics, particularly history, sports, and world events. Always smiling, he was
loved and respected by many and will be sorely missed.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Rosa M. (Fred)
Harrington; his brothers, David Hasty, Jr. and William L. Byrd; brother-in-law, Bernie
Geddis; and sister-in-law, Jackie Hasty.
Jimmy leaves behind to cherish precious memories, with his wife of 36 years, Mrs.
Linda Sanders Hasty; his son, Zackery James (Gionna) Hasty; his daughter, Jazmine
Olivia Hasty; two sisters, Barbara Geddis and Dr. Darnelle (Elder Robert) Wilson; three
brothers, Josh Hasty, Preston Hasty, Sr., and Kenneth (Delia) Hasty; two sisters-in-law,
Sally Hasty and Margaret Sanders (Archie B.) Suber; and a host of nieces, nephews,
