Mr. Jimmie Thomas

Jimmie Thomas was born on March 14, 1956 to the late Annie Mae Taylor Thomas and the late Samuel Thomas, Sr. in Columbia, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Friday, October 8, 2021 in Columbia, South Carolina.

Jimmie attended C.A. Johnson High School and received his GED from Midlands Technical College in Columbia. He was later employed with the City of Columbia Waste and Water Maintenance Division as an Equipment Operator II. He retired in 2017 after working there faithfully for 38 years.

Jimmie was reared in the commandments of the Lord from an early age. He was a member of Bible Way Church Piedmont for several years.

Jimmie married the love of his life, Cynthia, on October 11, 1984. From this union, two beautiful daughters were born, Marquita and Dominique.

In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Anthony Thomas; and sister, Annie Rose Thomas.

Jimmie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 37 years, Cynthia T. Thomas; daughters, Marquita A. Thomas of Charlotte, NC and Dominique I. Thomas of Atlanta, GA; one granddaughter, Brooklyn A. McCants of Charlotte, NC; siblings, Samuel Thomas, Jr., Equila Kershaw, Ezekiel (Brenda) Thomas, Marion Thomas, Jeremiah Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Daniel (Teresa) Thomas, and Marta (Al) Horton; mother-in-law, Naomi Gilyard of Columbia, SC; brother-in-law, Melvin (Julia) Gilyard; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends that will all miss his presence dearly.
