Mr. Jimmie Brown Obituary

Jimmie Brown was born on March 28, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida.  He was the youngest child of the late Johnny F. Martin and Thelma Staley Martin. He was raised in Denmark, South Carolina, by William “Bill” Brown and Patsy Brown.

Jimmie received his education in the public schools of Denmark, South Carolina and attended Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He went on to build a career in auto body repair, a field he had a knack for. He later transitioned to sales and dedicated 22 years of service to Auto Safety Glass in Columbia before retiring.

Jimmie was known for doing things his way—with grit, humor, and a little heart. He had a deep love for old movies, especially westerns, and was happiest when reminiscing about the "good old days." His stories, often filled with colorful characters and unforgettable antics, usually ended in booming laughter from all who listened.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Louise Mintz and John Wesley Martin, and a son, Odensa Sider.

Jimmie leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his children: Gwen Hampton of Columbia, SC; Alton (Sheryl) Jobes of Evans, GA; Rodney Kearse of Blackville, SC; and Carol Saldana of Orangeburg, SC. He also leaves behind his sister Dorothy Thomas of Columbia, SC, and brothers James Martin of Sumter, SC, Wilbur Brown and Willie Brown of New York City. He will be fondly remembered by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, friends, and his devoted companion, Jannie Hart of Norway, SC, who stood faithfully by his side.

Jimmie was a character, whose life was full of laughter and love. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will live on in our hearts forever.
