Jay M. Dupre “Jaybird”, age 59, of Columbia, South Carolina, died January 30, 2020 at his residence. Jay was born James William Melton, Jr. in Columbia SC on October 5, 1960. The son of the late Barbara Barnhill Melton DuPre and James William Melton. Jay was an incredibly intelligent man who knew something about everything. He worked for Mac Kohn printing before venturing out to be self-employed Real Estate Appraiser and Agent. Jay is survived by his wife, Beverly R. DuPre of 24 years; his daughter Danielle N. DuPre; Cousins, Hamilton F. Dicks, IV (Michele) and Allison Dicks Forehand (Tim) of Barnwell, SC, Karla "Christy" Whitlock Elwell (Kent) of Columbia, SC, and Justin Reid Whitlock (Julie) of Raleigh, NC; his Aunts Jacqueline Anthony Stewart, of Barnwell, SC, and Joanne Whitlock of Columbia, SC.

Jay was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clifford Cleve “Dick” Barnhill and Grandmother Ida Lee Ziegler Barnhill.

A private service was held in his honor and a special thank you to Jack Crutchfield.
