James Thomas Williams was born in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Pope and Odessia

James who was affectionately known as “Yock”, later moved along with his family to Columbia,
James joined the Friendship AME Church at an early age and faithfully attended Sunday School
and church services as he was physically able. James remained a faithful member until his death.
James worked several jobs during his life to include: working as a plumber for Sammie Nixon
Plumbing Company, and a custodian for the Dutch Square Shopping Mall. He also worked for
Shcumperts Lumber Company and the United Food Service.
James never met a stranger. He was a courteous and friendly person to all he met. Especially at
the McDonald’s in Dutch Fork.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Pope and Odessia Williams; one brother, Ralph
Williams, and three sisters, Gennie V Nixon, Lula Mae Harmon, and Azalee White.
He leaves to cherish and more his memory, two brother, Hasker (Tina) Williams and T.J.
