Mr. Henry Anderson Obituary

Henry Anderson, Jr., affectionately known as “Tubby”, was born Sunday, July 19, 1959, to the late Henry Anderson, Sr. and Cora Lee Johnson Anderson in Hopkins, South Carolina. On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, to his family’s dismay, Tubby transitioned from mortality to immortality to take his final rest.

Tubby attended the public schools of Richland County and was a proud graduate of Lower Richland High School, Class of 1977. After graduation, he pursued many employment opportunities to include Kenworth Trucking and Carolina International Trucking. He loved to drive and considered it his time of peace. He was able to enjoy time as a delivery driver for PPG Glass and Staples. Tubby also had an immense love for cooking. Being in the kitchen so often led him to work for Lizard’s Thicket and Big T’s Bar B Que as one of their best cooks.

Tubby enjoyed sports, drag racing, cleaning his car, looking good and smelling fresh. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and on any given Sunday during football season, you would find him sitting on the couch with his feet up, cheering for his team and spitting sunflower seeds. Tubby was a laid-back person who loved all his family and friends and was honored to be in their presence to joke and laugh. He had a heart full of laughter and love that he readily shared with those he met. To his children, nieces and nephews, he was known as the jokester of the family.  He was always doing something to make them laugh or make them cry, all in the name of love.

Tubby often spoke of how as a child, his mother made sure all her children attended church faithfully, and in doing so, he gave Christ that special place in his heart. In his younger days, he attended the Wateree Church of God.  However, when he decided to have a deeper relationship with Christ, he was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church of Hopkins where he spent many years enjoying Jesus along with his loving wife and children.

In addition to his parents, Tubby was preceded in death by his daughter, Abrianna Sherrill Anderson; sister, Katherine “Kitty” Anderson Chambers; and nephew, Roderick Anderson.

He leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories his wife of 24 years, Lisa Taylor Anderson; son, Jeremy Enri Anderson; granddaughter, Kristian Sherrill Anderson; sisters, Mary (John) McLemore, Marion (Jessie) Batts, and Jeanette Lakin; brothers, Frank (Vanessa) Anderson, Robert (Cynthia) Anderson, and Nathaniel (Beverly) Lakin; mother-in-law, Albertine Howell; sisters-in-law, Jamekia Taylor and Libby (Andre) Davis; brothers-in-law, Godfrey Middleton, Ervin (Greta) Taylor, Peter Taylor, and John (Vonda) Howell; aunt, Emma Lee Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, many family and friends who truly love him and will miss him dearly.
