Enoch Edisto DeVeaux, Jr. was born on November 24, 1920, as the eldest child to the late Enoch Edisto DeVeaux, Sr. and the late Ophelia Pringle DeVeaux in Eastover, South Carolina.
Enoch was educated in the public schools of Richland County and would continue his education to receive a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education.
Enoch’s passion for education allowed him to serve as principal for Harrisburg Elementary and Milledgeville Elementary, both in Milledgeville, Georgia. After retirement, Enoch and his loving wife relocated to his hometown of Eastover, South Carolina, and opened Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
Enoch enjoyed fishing and playing golf, but his greatest pride was love for God. Enoch was a faithful and devoted member of St. Phillips AME Church, Eastover. While there he served as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon. Enoch’s love for service extended to his membership to the Corinthian #11 Prince Hall Masonic Lodge and CC Johnson Consistory #36.
In addition to his parents, Enoch was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Scott DeVeaux; and six brothers, Alston DeVeaux, Hermon DeVeaux, Bishop Willie James DeVeaux, Shelly DeVeaux, Robert DeVeaux, and Calvin DeVeaux.
Enoch leaves to cherish his precious memories one son, Enoch Jerome (Pier) DeVeaux one daughter, Jacquline DeVeaux; one brother, Joshua DeVeaux; one sister, Bernice D. Newark; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
