Mr. Edward Simon Obituary

Edward Simon, affectionately known as “Bobby” was born on January 5, 1949, in Rembert, South Carolina to the late James Simon, Jr. and Charlotte Haynesworth Simon.  He entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Edward attended the public schools of Sumter County. Following high school, he received his Commercial Driver's License and worked many years in the transportation industry. He was employed at Lane Hauling and Excavation, Inc. where he hauled asphalt, gravel, and other materials.

Edward married the love of his life Katina L. Darby on October 17, 2001. From this union, they had three children, Katrina Elease, Janey Charlottea, and Janea Charlotte. Recently, he celebrated twenty years of married bliss with his wife.

Edward enjoyed spending time with his family.  His heart belonged to his girls. On Sundays, he could be found sitting in front of the television cheering on his beloved Carolina Panthers.  He also loved the outdoors, gardening, and fishing.  If he wasn’t catching it; he was growing it.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Morris H. Simon; Willie Simon; Lillie Mae Simon; and Lester Reed.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, wife, Katina Darby Simon; five daughters, Katrina Elease Simon, Janey Simon, Janea Simon, Shawand Wright (Rasheen) Alston and Erieka Taylor; five grandchildren, a special grandson, Ernest Dennis; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Leroy (Charlene) Simon of Austin, TX, Arthur (Gail) Simon, Anthony (Joyce) Simon of Rembert, SC, and Ralph (Sandra) Simon of Laurens, SC; four sisters, Louise China of Rembert, SC, Mildred (LC) Powell of Camden, SC, Elease Lloyd of Bishopville, SC, and Patricia Simon of Sumter, SC; three sisters-in-law, Nadine Reed of Newark, NJ, Wendy D. Gunter of Greenville, SC, and Dana B Smith of Columbia, SC; one brother-in-law, Frank Myers of Columbia, SC; two special cousins, Samuel Jenkins and Deacon Joseph Williams; and a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
