Mr. Daniel McDowell Obituary

Born on October 16, 1952, in North Charleston, South Carolina, Daniel, known to friends and family as Danny, was the second oldest son of Bobby and Lillian McDowell. Danny attended Mary Ford Elementary School and continued his education at Bonds-Wilson High School. 

He later answered the call to serve his country, becoming a decorated veteran of the United States Army and retired after serving 22 years. His time in the military reflected his discipline, strength, and unwavering sense of duty.

Following his honorable service, Daniel continued his education at Midlands Technical College in Columbia, South Carolina where he earned three degrees and a certificate in the areas of Marketing, Management, Public Service and Criminal Justice. During this time, he continued his commitment to excellence, working for various South Carolina State agencies where he dedicated many years of service and then retired.
 

Daniel was well known for being the go-to person for friends and family who needed advice on business, financial, military or life decisions. He had a vibrant spirit, joyful presence, and was the life of any gathering. He loved good food, especially seafood, and cherished time spent with family and friends. He also had a passion for gardening and was known for his remarkable ability to grow just about anything, especially his beloved muscadines.
 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mrs. Kim- Williams-McDowell; his children, Lithalan Monique Shingler, Daniel McDowell, Jr. (Kia), and Dominique McDowell; six grandchildren, Connor Shingler, Creighton Shingler, Coren Robinson, Devyn Lester-McDowell, Danielle McDowell, Daniel H. McDowell III; mother-in-law Margaret Williams of New Orleans, Louisiana; sister-in-law Leslie Williams of New Orleans, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Patricia McDowell Ford of Bronx, New York; brother-in-law Ronald Bess; of Goose Creek, South Carolina; a "Bonus" Brother Nathaniel "Rico" Shiver (Deborah) of Charleston, South Carolina; godparents-in-law Nathaniel Brown (Gloria) of Columbia, South Carolina; "bonus" sister-in-law, E. Marie Collins of Columbus, Georgia; a special niece, LaSonia Chisholm-Nelson (Khalil, Sr.) of Charleston, South Carolina and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
