Carey Donald Stewart was born in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Thelma Stewart. He departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 22, 2022, in Columbia, South Carolina.
Carey was educated in the public schools of Columbia, South Carolina, and attended C.A. Johnson High School. While in high school, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. Carey later attended Midlands Technical College. He held various jobs throughout the years, including the Fort Jackson Commissary, and later a Warehouseman at Reception Station. He also worked as a Mental Health Specialist for Crafts Farrow State Hospital, served as Supervisor of Southern Plastic and Farm Bureau Insurance Company.
Carey leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving wife, Dorothy Stewart; two sons, Marcus (Racquet) Stewart and Traceton Stewart; three granddaughters, Marquel Stewart, Day’Sha (Taliaferro) Robinson-Heyward, and Cassidy Stewart; two grandsons, Traceton K. Stewart, Jr. and Trenton M. Stewart; three great grandchildren, Lyric Stewart, Carter Stewart, and Messiah Stewart; father in law, John Solomon; two brothers in law, Randolph (Beverly) Johnson and John E. (Maddie) Solomon; sister in law, Pamela Holley; niece, Mary T. Stewart; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
