Mr. Barron Dixon Obituary

Barron Dixon was born on August 29, 1959 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Reverend Odell Dixon and Barbara M. Dixon Moore. He departed this earthly life to join our heavenly father on January 4, 2025.

Barron was educated in the schools of Richland District One and worked as a Brick Mason until an unfortunate accident caused him total blindness, rendering him disabled. He then attended the South Carolina Commission for The Blind Columbia campus, where he had to learn self-sufficiency skills as well as to read and communicate by braille. After successful completion of this training, Barron moved to Charleston where he would reside for several years.

After relocating back to Columbia in the early 2000’s Barron met his sweetheart Monica Miller. After several years of dating, they became united in marriage on October 3, 2011 and remained so until his earthly departure.

Barron loved the Lord and enjoyed attending various churches with his wife. He enjoyed listening to music and discussing politics. He followed the news of the world closely and could debate with the best of them. He also had a passion for dogs, especially those of the German shepherd breed.

He was preceded in death by his father Reverend Odell Dixon; brother, Ondra Odell Dixon; and sister, Cathy Dixon Love.

Those who are cherishing fond and precious memories of Barron are his devoted wife, Monica Dixon; his loving mother, Barbara, M. Dixon Moore; caring stepfather, David Moore, Sr.; brothers: Rodney, Darrell and Odell Dixon, Reverend James (Sharon) Williams; Step-brothers: Thomas, Marvin and Ricky Moore; sisters: Barbara Ann McNeal, Wendy Moore Generette, Nitoi Dixon; Step-sisters: Arneatha (Jackie) Robinson, Cathy Weston, Carol (Paul) Anderson and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and many other loving relatives and friends all of whom will miss him.
