Alexjandro Rahman Sherieff Graham lovingly known to friends and family as “Alex” passed away on August 9, 2023 at the age of 48. He was born on January 21, 1975 in Los Angeles, CA. He attended Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC in 1993. He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at Bible Light Holiness Church of Ridgeway, SC and was filled with the Holy Ghost as evidenced by his ability to speak in tongues according to Acts 2: 38. While at Bible Light, he enjoyed his membership on the Youth Inspirational Choir.
A true embodiment of selflessness and kindness, Alex had a heart that knew no bounds. He had an innate ability to brighten the lives of those around him and was always eager to lend a helping hand. Whether it was a friend in need or a stranger on the street, Alex would go out of his way to make a positive impact.
Alex’s dedication to service extended beyond his personal relationships. He enlisted into the U. S. Army and proudly served in the Special Forces as a Blackhawk Helicopter Navigator. FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE ASSIGNED AS A UH-60 HELICOPTER CREW CHIEF, PRIVATE FIRST CLASS GRAHAM was awarded the ARMY ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL FROM 21 FEBRUARY 1994 TO 18 FEBRUARY 1995. His selfless dedication to duty, professional attitude and outstanding abilities reflect great credit to himself, this command, and the United States Army. Alex also completed a tour of duty in Korea and special combat tours of duty in Bosnia and Afghanistan.
Alex enjoyed working on cars and watching all sports. He is survived by his parents Melvin and Diann Cook; two sons, Deshaun and Christopher; two grandmothers, Marian Cook and Gladys Graham; one brother, Julian Cook; one sister, Jihan Cook-Davis (Apollo); four uncles, Raymond Cook, Cornell Cook, Rabbani Muhammad (Jean), Eddie Frank Graham (Bernadette); four aunts, Elaine Gary, Diane Muhammad (Victor), Ann McCants ( Mack), Dr. Jean Wilson, and a special great aunt Mary Andrews, a retired Air Force Major; two nieces, Jordan Cook and Aubrey Smith; two nephews, William Smith and Julian Cook, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
As we gather to remember Alex, let us carry his spirit of kindness, generosity and unwavering love in our hearts. He leaves behind a legacy that reminds us all of the power of a life lived with purpose and compassion.
