Abraham Cofield, Jr., affectionately called “Abe Jr.” and “Ace”, was born on May 15, 1953 in Hopkins, South Carolina. He was the second child of the late Abraham Cofield, Sr. and Elizabeth Middleton Cofield. He departed this earthly life on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Providence Health in Columbia, South Carolina.
Ace graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1971. He also attended Midlands Technical College. Ace served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1974. In 1977, he met Rosa, the love of his life, and married her in 1978. Their union was blessed with two children, Kishawn and Roderick.
Ace worked with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health for many years and Anchor Continental. He also lived and worked in Atlanta, Georgia before returning to South Carolina. Ace loved to work but his love was even greater for his children, grandchildren, and his family. Ace’s humble spirit was his trademark. Ace would help family, friends and others in any way he could. His hobbies included watching sports and eating a good home cooked meal. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Ace attended Beulah Baptist Church in Hopkins, South Carolina for many years. He touched the lives of many and will truly be missed.
Ace was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham Cofield, Sr. and Elizabeth Middleton Cofield; his brother, Volney Middleton; maternal grandparents, Green Middleton, Sr. and Anna Patterson Middleton; paternal grandparents Rose Cofield and Adams Cofield
Ace leaves to cherish his precious memory to his wife, Rosa Kelly Cofield Bowie of Columbia, SC; his daughter, Kishawn L. Cofield of Columbia, SC; a son, Roderick S. Cofield of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Shipley Cofield of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Sadarious Destiny Cofield, Courtney T. Graddick, and Patrick I. Cofield all of Columbia, SC; two aunts, Dorothy Gordon of Hopkins, SC, and Susanna Milledge of Columbia SC; and a host of loving family and friends who will all miss him dearly.
