A time to be born ~ Ecclesiastes 3:2
Emma Lee Johnson Scott was born October 19th, 1928, in Eastover, SC, to the late Jimmy Weston and Ella
Whaley Johnson. She had a heart of pure gold, a gentle spirit, and a strong will. God handpicked Emma from his earthly garden and planted her in his garden of eternal life on February 20, 2025.
A time to live ~ John 10:10
Emma Lee, the daughter of a pastor, had an astounding faith. She was baptized at an early age.
She attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Eastover, SC for over seventy years. She could be found sitting on
the second pew in her Sunday best accessorized with one of her favorite hats. She was an active member in her
church serving in various capacities. She was the mother of the church, church clerk, leader of the senior choir,
president of the missionary society, Sunday school superintendent, and the curator of an annual Christmas holiday program.
Emma attended the public school system of Richland One, graduating from Webber High School. Her life’s
work was being a servant of God; when he called, she answered. Emma Lee took pride in everything that she
did. Outside of her work for God, she did domestic work and worked as a preschool teacher. She later retired from Union Camp in Eastover, SC.
She married the love of her life, the late Frank A. Scott. Their loving union blessed them with one daughter, Elease.
Emma Lee enjoyed cooking, baking, hosting family and friends around her kitchen table, gardening, and
spreading the word of God. She was something special to everyone who knew her, a safe place, a prayer
warrior, a listening ear, and a walking history book. Emma Lee was never a “blender”, her bold personality
allowed her to stand out in any room she graced. Her presence always made a difference.
