Elder Michael Kenneth Suber was born on May 8, 1962, in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Burley and
Everlena Barnwell Suber. He went to take his place in the heavenly choir on Friday, November 26, 2021.
Michael, affectionately known as “Mike”, was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a proud graduate of C.A. Johnson High School, Class of 1980.
He dedicated over 35 years of service to what is now the Prisma Health System.
From an early age, Mike exhibited a love for all people. He was one to find laughter and joy in almost any situation.
Michael received salvation in his early twenties and made it a point to never turn back. He accepted his call to the ministry and was licensed to preach in 1987 and ordained Elder in 1998. Elder Suber also served in several positions for ministries within the church including Usher Ministry President, Youth Bible Instructor, Men’s Department President, and Choir Member. One of his biggest desires was to see men walk in the newness of life that the Lord promised them and become mighty men of valor. The scripture that he used most to encourage spiritual growth was “Therefore if any many man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” -2 Corinthians 5:17. Though his earthly heart may have failed, his heart toward God was constant.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Layfyette “Kitty” Suber Starks.
Michael leaves to carry on his legacy and cherish his memories his loving wife, Gail Suber; three children, Daniel, Jessica, and Meghan; two grandsons, Daniel and Da’Shawn; two brothers, Sterling “The Goose” Suber and Curtis Suber; two sisters, Vickie Suber and Doris Capers; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
