With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Larry Clinton Lawrence Senior, who was born in Conover, NC on June 29, 1946. Larry was lovingly raised by his parents, Clinton and Theodoshia (Hampton) Lawrence. He completed his education at C.A. Johnson High School in 1964 and pursued higher education South Carolina State University. Larry later became one of the first black students to gain a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina.
Larry dedicated over 40 years of his life to his passion of accounting at various firms, including Banker’s Trust, South Carolina Electric and Gas, and South Carolina Human Affairs Commission, among others. Larry worked diligently in this field through the years and achieved his dream of opening his own Accounting Firm, Lawrence Tax and Accounting Service, where he made a meaningful impact in the lives of countless individuals and businesses.
Larry was a long-time member of the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church and Rehoboth Baptist Church. Larry became a founding member of First Northeast Baptist Church in 1989. After attending First Northeast Baptist Church for many years, Larry joined and was active within the Bible Way Church of Atlas Road where he served as an elder. Larry will be remembered fondly for his unwavering kindness, generosity, and selflessness. Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Larry married Sylvia Allen in 1974 and leaves behind two loving children; Larry (Clint) Lawrence Junior (Anita) and Stephanie Lawrence. Larry leaves behind two precious children from previous relationships, Christopher Jacobs (Daniela) and Ronald Stanton (Adrienne). Larry has eight beautiful grandchildren; Landon Lawrence, Logan Lawrence, Ron Stanton, Trae’ Stanton, Tre’Sure Roberts (Troy), Adrianna’ Fleet, Alexander Jacobs, and Zachary Jacobs; five great grandchildren; True Roberts, Troy Roberts III, D’iore Stanton, K’iore Stanton, and Mai’lani Stanton. Larry has one brother, Joseph Hayward Wilson; one sister, Theodora (Donise) Lawrence and was preceded in death by two brothers; Charles Lawrence and Joseph Hampton; and one sister; Sharon Nunez. Larry is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, close relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Larry Clinton Lawrence Senior will be profoundly missed by his church, family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
