TSGT Carl E. Lebby, Sr. (retired United States Air Force) passed away on October 12, 2017 at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina after an extended illness. He was born on January 13, 1950 to Ernest and Mamie Lebby Belton in Columbia, SC. He graduated from C. A Johnson High School in 1968.
Carl served honorably in the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and later as a vehicle maintenance supervisor. He retired with over 20 years of active duty service. During his military career he was awarded the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with three bronze oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with one bronze oak leaf cluster, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with four oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with four bronze oak leaf clusters. He was a friend to everyone and loved to cook bar-b-que for family and friends. After retirement his hobbies were repairing cars, fishing, creative art, and crossword puzzles.
Carl is survived by his children: Dr. Kimberly D. Lebby, Carl E. Lebby, Jr. (Dr. Asha Bailey), Reginald D. Lebby and the mother of his children, Helen Goodwin Lebby; grandchildren, Brittany, Bailee and Adalaya; sisters, Ernie Elaine Foster, Paula Lebby, and Verna Harney; brother, George William Lebby; aunts, Mrs. Kathleen Lebby Faust, Mrs. Eddie Mae Lebby and Mrs. Glennie Mae Lebby; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
Carl was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Shawn Denise Lebby; and sisters, Rosalind Johnson and Lois Few.
