Specialist Tyona Simone Williams

Tyona Simone Williams was born on October 5, 1996 in Charleston, South Carolina to Paige Williams and Jovan Buckner. She departed this earthly journey on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

Tyona was educated in the public schools in Charleston and Richland Counties. She was a graduate of Burke High School Class of 2014. Later, she joined the United States Army as a Motor Transportation Specialist.

As a youth, Tyona was active in Wesley United Methodist in Charleston, South Carolina, Builder’s Ministries in Columbia, South Carolina, and Rhema Word Restoration Ministry serving in youth ministries. She enjoyed drawing, playing sports, and listening to music.

Tyona was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Thomas B. Williams; and her paternal grandmother, Cynthia Buckner.

Those left to cherish precious memories of Tyona is her loving wife, Vantaisha Williams-Johnson; mother, Paige Williams; father, Jovan Buckner; siblings, Davon Williams, Johnathan Williams, Aniyla Williams, and Jaden Bellamy; maternal grandmother, Dellona Williams; paternal grandfather, Rev. A.L. Buckner; uncles, Thomas Williams, Jr., Luther Williams, and T.C. Buckner; aunts, Keshia Edmonds, and Loretta Turner; and a host of other loving relatives and friends whom all will miss her dearly.
