SSG Barbara A. Gordon

August 3, 1957 ~ July 1, 2019 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Barbara Ann Gordon was born on August 3, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Clyde Louis Campbell and Annie Mae Campbell. She departed this earthly journey on Monday, July 1, 2019.

Barbara was educated in the Baltimore City School System and graduated from the historic Frederick Douglas High School in Baltimore, Class of 1976.

At an early age, Barbara was baptized in the Catholic Church.

Barbara chose to serve her country and joined the Maryland National Guard.  She later joined the United States Army and served for twenty-one years. She received numerous awards for excellence in service. 

Barbara dedicated her life to family, close friends and her community. She was actively involved with various organizations such as the Women Veterans Empowerment Group and the F.C. Elite Ladies where she mentored young ladies from ages seven to seventeen. She was a huge supporter of MBS Fitness.  Most precious to her heart was working with children and adults with Autism. 

Barbara was an avid fan of The Whispers. She also loved to cruise on  Carnival Cruise Line, where she recently received Platinum Status. She simply enjoyed life and everyone she encountered. 

In addition to her father, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Cynthia Lawson; and two brothers, Anthony Lawson and Randy Lawson.

Barbara leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving husband, Joseph Simmons; one son, Julius Gordon; her mother, Annie Mae Campbell; three sisters, Joann Higgs, Elverta Clyde Campbell and Lenette Faulcon; one brother, Jason Turner; and  a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
