Rev. Joy Yvonne Bryant

Reverend Joy Yvonne Bryant, affectionately known to her beloved grandchildren as “Mema,” was born in Allendale County, South Carolina, March 16, 1952 to the late Robert Bryant, Jr. and Hazel Eady Bryant. Joy departed this earthly journey on February 20, 2019 to be with our Heavenly Father.

Joy received her early education within the Jasper County Public School District and was a graduate of Mather High School located in Beaufort, South Carolina. Joy went on to attend Benedict College where she received her Bachelor’s degree. She also received a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University and a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary located in Washington, DC, where she became an ordained minister.

Joy was employed in South Carolina and Florida as a social worker, psychologist and chaplain. She dedicated her life to her family, loved ones and community. To know Joy was to love her.

Reverend Joy Yvonne Bryant is survived by her two  precious daughters, Nikki F. Georgia of Columbia, SC, Stephanie P. Bryant of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Nikolas B. Young and Johnelle N. Georgia; one sister, Dr. Rose B. Dixon of Fort Washington, MD; one brother, Wayne V. Bryant of  Fairfax, SC; two nieces, Dr. Ingrid W. (Wayne) Horton of Waldorf, MD and Waynetta (Patrick) Safford of Dallas, GA; four nephews, Earl L. Dixon II of Baltimore MD, Leonard R. Dixon of Los Angeles, CA, Brandon Jacobs of Columbia, SC, and Javlin Lovett of Savannah, GA;  along with a host of loving aunts, cousins, relatives, and friends.
