Sharon was born September 8, 1956 in Fairfax, South Carolina to the late James Mays and Sina Deloris Ritter.
After graduating from Ridgeland High School in 1974, Sharon went on to attend college the following year, first at Columbia Jr. College, earning an associate degree, and then Benedict College. Ms. Ritter had a long professional administrative career, retiring after 28 years of outstanding service to the state of South Carolina. Sharon worked on many political campaigns and was a staunch democrat. She was also recognized for 20 years of service with H&R Block. An entrepreneur at heart, she founded Critter’s Corner, an event planning and personal shopping company. For more than 20 years, Critter’s Corner helped provide toys and clothes for single-parent families throughout the Midlands during the holidays. Her beautiful smile, her giving heart, her trademark stare, and her candid wit were experienced by one and all.
She is survived by her son, Brandon Jacobs; mother, Sina Ritter Durham (Henry); 2 sisters, Dolores Valerie Durham and Tina Wiggins; 2 aunts, George Ann Murray (Herman) and Ellarie Reed; godmother, Modestine McCloud; friend and daughter of the heart, Nicole H. Holland; and other loving relatives and dear friends.
