Ms. Melvina S. Macon

Melvina Scott Macon was born on July 12, 1926 in Eastover, South Carolina to the late Luke and Anna Scott. She departed this earthly journey on August 20, 2019.

Melvina was educated in the public schools of Richland County. In 1975, Melvina was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at the Progressive Church of Lord Jesus Christ in Hopkins, South Carolina. Melvina was employed as a domestic worker for several years.

Melvina dedicated her life to her family, loved ones and community. She had a witty sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Melvina’s favorite hobby was dancing.

Melvina was preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Anna Scott; husband, David Macon, Sr.; brothers, Belton Scott, Howard Scott, Luke J. Scott, Jr.; sisters, Ruth Edwards, Alice Scott, and Anna Scott; children, David Macon, Jr., Benjamin Macon, Sr., Evelyn Nelson, Rosa Lee Sumpter, and Linda Faye Kirk.

Melvina leaves to cherish her precious memory her children, Dorothy (Moses) Bates of Gadsden, SC, Robert (Janice) Macon of Eastover, SC, and James (Henrietta) Macon of Columbia, SC; sisters, Lillian Woodruff of Eastover, SC, Geneva Weaver of Tiffany, GA, and Bennie Mae Jones of Columbia, SC; 32 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends.
