Ms. Lois Bookert

August 31, 1942 ~ January 12, 2019 (age 76)

Lois Ann Bookert was born on August 31, 1942 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Eddie and Sarah Kelly Bookert. She traded this earthly life for her heavenly home on Saturday, January 12, 2019.

Lois was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a graduate of C.A. Johnson High School. After graduating high school, she became a homemaker and mother.

As a homemaker and mother, Lois instilled several values in her children that have directly contributed to them becoming highly productive members of society.  Faith in God, education, taking care of one’s responsibilities, and an establishing a career were pillars of the value system she strongly believed in.  Her biggest statement of wisdom to all of her children, “Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, get on your knees and pray about it”.

Affectionately known as “Lo-Bee”, “Momma Lois” and “Granny Lois,” was a hands on grandmother who loved and supported all of her family. Her love was also extended to many friends.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her grandson, Marvin Ricardo Bookert.

Lois memories will be treasured by her daughter, Jacqueline (Bernard) Simmons of the home; four sons, Alex (Brenda) Bookert, Sergeant Major Retired Byron (Mattie) Ross, Paris DeLeon Bookert, and Eddie Bookert all of Columbia, South Carolina; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends whom will all miss her dearly.
