Ms. Lessie McQuiller McFarland

Lessie McQuiller McFarlind was born in Columbia, South Carolina, August 9, 1925 to the late Daniel Dinkins and Corine McQuiller and her stepfather, the late Billy Williams. She was married to the late William McFarland. Lessie departed this earthly journey on March 3, 2019.

Lessie accepted Christ at an early age at Second Nazareth Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina.  In 1944 she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and joined the Our Lady of Victory Church.

Lessie was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She was employed at Fort Jackson Hospital before moving to Philadelphia. Upon relocating, she was employed and retired from the Garment District.

In 2005, she moved to Columbia, South Carolina to live with her cousin, Dorothy M. Gordon.  She was always in Dorothy’s life and loved her dearly (her baby).  Her baby, Dorothy, took care of her as she became an intricate part of the family.  The family members were blessed to have her in their lives and she was blessed to be a part of a caring and loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Lessie leaves to honor her memory her five cousins, Dorothy M. Gordon, Floyd (Gloria) Gordon II, Gail (Clarence) Gordon Harrell, Mary (Fred) Ellen Brandyburg, and Deborah Thompson; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends, all whom will miss her and cherish their memories.
