Johnnie Mae Thompson Green was born on March 8, 1946 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Naomi Pinckney. She was raised by the late Martha and James Thompson. She departed this life on Monday, April 22, 2019.

Johnnie was educated in the public schools of Richland County. After completing high school, Johnnie moved to Michigan where she was employed with State of Michigan College of Beauty, University of Michigan Hospital, and General Motors. After retiring from General Motors, Johnnie returned to Columbia, South Carolina to care for her ailing mother. Johnnie began a second career in the medical field working at Lab Corp., Lexington Medical Center, Providence Hospital, Richland Memorial, and South Carolina Oncology Association. She later retired from South Carolina Correctional Institution.

She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign War 4262.

At an early age, Johnnie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized. Until her death, Johnnie was a faithful member of True Believers Church. She was actively involved with various church activities until her health declined.

Johnnie dedicated her life to her family, and loved ones. She was married to the late James Green. Johnnie loved to travel, visiting her children and grandchildren. To know Johnnie was to love her.

In addition to her parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by two sisters; Janethal and Mary.

Johnnie leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Nona (Rick) Barber of Ypsilanti, MI; two sons, Curtis (Hellen) Granderson of Detroit, MI, and Robert (Lyndra) Harrison, Jr. of Dayton, OH; two grandchildren, Robert Harrison III of Dayton, OH, and Rolanda (Prince) Logan of Ypsilanti, MI; two sisters, Mildred Pinckney of Brooklyn, NY, and Ruth (Alvin) Payne of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Raymond (Hazel) Pinckney and Marvin (Clara) Pinckney of Columbia, SC; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
