Cheryl Thompson was born on October 16, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland to Beatrice Thompson and the late Edward Gore, Jr. She departed this earthly journey on October 7, 2019.
Cheryl was educated in the public schools of Chester County and was a graduate of Chester High School Class of 1977. She attended Winthrop University and York Technical College in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
At an early age, Cheryl was baptized at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Chester, South Carolina where she served faithfully until she relocated to Columbia, South Carolina.
She was employed by the City of Columbia Police Department.
Cheryl dedicated her life to family, loved ones, and community. She was actively involved with the hospitality committee of Greater St. Luke Baptist Church and a part time caterer.
In addition to her father, Cheryl was preceded in death by her cousin, Melva Williams.
Cheryl leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving son, Ryan Kelsey Thompson of the home; her loving and devoted mother, Beatrice Thompson of Chester, South Carolina; three sisters, Elaine Ruffin of North Carolina, Josephine Lee of New Jersey, and Shonette Gore of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers, Edward Gore III, and George A. Gore both of Chester, South Carolina; and her cousins whom she considered siblings, Arsonia Stroud, Leroy “Chopper” Stroud, Jr., Stephen Stroud, and Jill Adams; special friends, The Simmons Family; co-workers of the City of Columbia Police Department; the Greater Saint Luke Baptist Church family; and a host of other loving cousins, relatives and friends.
