Ms. Beverly Gail Scott

Beverly “Bev” Gail Scott was born on January 3, 1957 to the late Curtis and Abbie Dent.  She confessed Christ at an early age at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  Beverly graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1975.  She attended Mississippi Valley State University then Hinds Community College where she received her GPN in nursing.  She worked at Cooper Lighting and for the Vicksburg Warren School District. 

Beverly had an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyed owning her own business. She operated a concession stand during flag football games for the City of Vicksburg and the Vicksburg Warren Flag Football Association. Beverly also made her special tea cakes for many to enjoy. She rarely met a stranger and established everlasting friendships with people from Mississippi to South Carolina. Beverly had many friends and to be called one by her was significant.  Her special friends were Arthur Williams, Sandra Howard, Ora Dean Carson, Debra Goodman, Miriam Byrd, the late Gail Martin, Sandra Stevenson, Frances Mayfield, Earnestine Savage, Shirley McClure, Pam Tyler and Wanda Clark.  

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Abbie Dent; grandparents, Curtis and Ceola Dent-Ward; sister, Barbara “BJ” Judge; and niece, Andrea “Donnie” Dent.

Beverly will be cherished in memory by her daughter, Stephanie Nicole Dent Lawrence and son-in-law Anthony Terrance Lawrence; two grandchildren, Mechai and Clarke Lawrence; three sisters, Carolyn Dent of Vicksburg, MS, Audrey (Abe) Smith of Conroe, TX, and Joyce (Nicole) Dent-McNair of Cape Coral, FL; three brothers, Larry (Evelyn) Dent, Glen Dent and Stanley Dent all of Vicksburg, MS, and a host of nieces and nephews.
