Ms. Alice Edwards

Alice Akins Edwards was born January 19, 1954, in Bainbridge, Georgia, to the late Geech White and Rosa Mae Levens.  She departed this earthly journey on October 25th 2018 at the age of sixty-four.

Alice spiritual journey began at an early age at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Bainbridge, Georgia. She later attended Brooklyn Baptist Church until her death. She was committed to her family, church and community.                                                                                                                                                                            

Alice was educated in the public schools of Decatur County and was a graduate of Attapulgus Mt. Moriah School in 1972. On November 19, 1975, before the beginning of integration she was married to Mack Edwards, Jr. and from this union she raised four children.   

Alice was a civilian employee for 33 years on Fort Jackson Military Installation until her retirement.  After retirement she worked for Walmart for five years as a customer service representative.

Alice enjoyed taking trips, shopping and spending time with her family. She enjoyed enlightening conversations with her grand-daughter Mckenzie, bridging the gap of generations.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Geech White and Rosa Akins Levens; her three brothers, Gregory Akins, Lorenzo Akins, and Sylvester Myers.   

Alice leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Annie (Nelson) Levens-Morris; three sons, Quentin (Nicosa) Akins, Kenneth Levens and Jafari (La’Tina) Edwards; one brother, Robert (Lora) Akins; seven grandchildren, Kiana Starks, Nyhlah Mckenzie, Jerrod Edwards, Kendra Levens, Kia, Elijah and Nathaniel Morris; one aunt whom she loved as a second mother, Lelar Akins; one great grandson, Kenton Starks; and a host of special loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and loving friends.
