Tonicha Ashanti Henry-Wesley was born on February 13, 1996 in Jamaica, New York to Tabitha T. Howell and Reginald A. Henry. On Saturday, June 16, 2018, she peacefully transitioned from this earthly journey to her heavenly home.
Tonicha graduated from Lower Richland High School in 2014 with honors. She continued her education at the College of Charleston where she graduated Cum Laude, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology on December 2017. She was a member of Phi Sigma Pi Fraternity. Tonicha continued to climb the education ladder and enrolled as a full time student at North Carolina State University where she worked diligently on her Master’s Degree in Education.
Tonicha was recognized for spearheading the launch of the first sign language club at the College of Charleston in January 2017. She invited Deaf Interpreter Jason Hurdich to participate, who was formerly the interpreter for our former governor and current ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley.
Tonicha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Juanita (John) Rogers and Bennie L. Howell, Sr.
Tonicha leaves to cherish her precious memory is her wife, E’Lexus Lashae Wesley; parents, Tabitha (Christopher) Howell and Reginald (Kishelle) Henry; five siblings, Eric L. Scott, Jr., T’Noy Henry, Tyanna Henry, T’Ron Henry, and T’Jah Henry; her grandparents, Catherine Henry and Anthony Henry; one nephew, Eric L. Scott lll; best friend, Rachel Moore; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
