Rodney Jamison Reese, Jr. was born on July 7, 1981 in Columbia, South Carolina to Rodney Reese, Sr. and the late Lorraine McIntear Reese. He departed this earthly journey on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
Rodney received parochial and public education in Richland County Schools. He was a graduate of Lower Richland High School Class of 1999. He matriculated at Benedict College to pursue a career in Business with an emphasis in Music. While attending Benedict College, he was active with Benedict’s Gospel and Concert Choirs.
Rodney’s musical prowess was apparent from an early age. One of his integral influences was his great-grandmother, Mother Josephine Anderson. “Granny,” as she was affectionately known, pushed him in his gift to be bold for Christ. She would often tell him, “Boy, open your mouth and sang.” Little did she know where that encouragement would lead him. Rodney was a dedicated member of the Christian community. His faith was evident in the many roles he served in churches throughout the Carolinas and Georgia.
Rodney loved to travel. His globetrotting took him to destinations all over the world. His gifts definitely made room for him. Through his travels, he has worked with celebrities, recorded albums, and performed on stages big and small. Some of the highlights of his artistic work include recording with Benedict Gospel Choir as well as Melvin Crispell and Testimony. Rodney has sung background for gospel greats such as: Kim Burrell, Isaac Caree, Earnest Pugh, Johnathan Nelson, and the phenomenal Andraé Crouch. Rodney was currently touring with Kevin Lemon and Higher Calling, and employed by Wells Fargo Bank.
Rodney leaves to cherish his precious memory his father, Rodney Reese, Sr.; two brothers, Reginald (SheKiah) Reese, Sr. and Ian Reese; one sister, Marquette Williams all of Columbia, SC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
