Ra-Sheed Abdul Taylor Abel was born April 19, 1971 to the late Roderick “Ricky” Abel and the beautiful Ms. Brenda Taylor, at Albert Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Ra-Sheed spent his first 15 years in Philadelphia, where he attended Martin Luther King High School. In 1986, The Taylor Family relocated to Columbia, South Carolina, where he attended Columbia High School. Ra-Sheed had several nicknames, and was affectionately known as “Dugga Man”, “Sheed”, and “Shady”. Sheed was a loving and fun young man, who was full of life and zeal.
Sheed explored his hand at different occupations. His favorites were Gourmet Chef, Certified Painter and Construction Worker. Sheed loved swimming, shooting pool, playing cards, fishing, and having a good time with family and friends. He also loved football, and his favorite team was the Green Bay Packers. To Sheed, family was everything and he was loyal and dedicated to a fault.
On Sunday, June 17, 2018, Sheed submitted to the mighty will of God and became a soldier in God’s heavenly army.
Sheed leaves to cherish his precious memory his two sons, Rasheed Taylor, II and Raheem Taylor; his mother, Ms. Brenda Taylor; his brother, Roderick W. Abel, Jr.; two step-daughters, Chantell Haines and Victoria (Tori) Evans; five aunts, Nona Yancey, Constance Yancey, Dorothy Mae Moss, Dorinda Thomas, and Nadine Taylor-Lee; two great-aunts, Maggie (Mutt) Anderson and Barbara Ann Davis; three uncles, Deacon Michael Lee Ford, Andre Lee, and Deacon Raymond Anderson; one God-son, J.P. Walters; seven God-brothers, Norman A. Smith, DWayne Moss, Glenn Kincaid II, Juan Surginer, Frederick Aiken, Rasaan Wiley, Tony Anderson, and Kayode Taylor; four God-sisters, Brandi Kincaid-Alexander, Champagne Kincaid, Sabrina (Brie) Grooms, Justine (Snootie) Gilley and Stephanie Moss; and a loving host of cousins, friends, and family members.
