Marion Rush, Sr. was born in Holly Hill, South Carolina to the late Booker T. Rush, Sr. and Aline Rush on September 24, 1944. On Sunday, April 1, 2018, he peacefully entered into enteral rest.
Marion was educated in the public school system in Holly Hill, South Carolina. He was employed by Aqua Seal Manufacturing and Roofing, and enjoyed working there until his health declined.
Marion was affectionately known as “Hollywood”, “Bubba”, “Vern” and “Collard Green Man,” by family and friends. He cherished his family, friends, and co-workers. He was an avid NASCAR fan and he also was a huge fan of the New England Patriots.
In addition to his parents, Marion was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Rush and Jerry Rush; and two sisters, Lauinnana Brown and Francis Rush.
Those left to cherish his fond memories are his wife, Peggy D. Rush; two sons, Marion (Wylene) Rush, Jr. of Columbia and Damon E. (Lisa) Rush, Sr. of Cibolo, TX; two daughters, Shuneque Rush (Michael) Myers of Columbia and Gloria (Leon) Mason of New York; two brothers, William (Ella Ruth) Rush, Sr. of Columbia and Booker T. Rush, Jr. of New York; two sister, Alice Rush of New York and Harriett Frazier of Santee; two aunts, Rose Lee (Otis) Goodwin of Columbia and Carolyn Macon of Dayton, OH; two uncles, Herbert Robinson and James Robinson of Columbia; grandchildren, Thomas Russ of Guam, Shakira Rush and Damon E Rush, Jr. of Cibolo, TX, Shanelle Rush and Saniyah Rush Myers of Columbia, Eric Troutman, Jr., Xavier Troutman and Bryan Troutman of Columbia, Stetson Mason of Lakeview, and Nathan Mason of Orangeburg; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
