Mr. George Thomas, Sr.

George H. Thomas, Sr. peacefully transitioned from this earthly journey to his heavenly home on March 28, 2018. George was born on October 28, 1940, in Pomaria, South Carolina, to the late Eugene Thomas, Sr. and Lessie B. Young.

He was educated in the public schools of South Carolina and was a graduate of Dewitt Clinton High School in Bronx, New York. At an early age George married Helen Wooten and moved to New York City and eventually retired from the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority.

George was a Prince Hall Mason of the Meridian Lodge #93.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Wooten; his parents, Eugene Thomas, Sr. and Lessie B. Young; his brother, Norman Thomas; two sisters, Sheryll Thomas and Barbara Thomas.

George leaves to cherish his fond memories one son, George Thomas, Jr; one daughter, Jonica Thomas; two brothers, Roy Thomas and Eugene Thomas; one sister, Pauline Chestine; eight grandchildren, Kenton Rowland, Kendra Rowland, Jeremiah Rowland, Christina Thomas, Faith Thomas, Marissa Thomas, Latasha Thomas and Marcus Thomas; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
