Mr. George Holmes, Jr.

George Holmes, Jr. was born on March 2, 1950 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late George Holmes, Sr. and Blanche Holmes.  He transitioned to his eternal resting place on April 4, 2018.

He graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1969.

In 1971, George converted to Islam and continued to follow the word of the Koran throughout his life. In 1974, he and his former wife had one daughter Anisha-Joy Holmes who he loved dearly. 

George was an avid lover of music, especially jazz!  He could sit around the house for hours listening to it and found comfort in it during the difficult times.

In the latter years, George was employed by the state of South Carolina retiring from a career in business management. He dedicated his life to his family and was actively involved with his grandchildren. 

George was preceded in death by his parents, George Holmes, Sr. and Blanche Burchette; brother, Jesse Moore; and two sisters, Darlene Holmes and Jacqueline Holmes.

George leaves to cherish his precious memory, with his loving wife, Ruth Holmes; only daughter, Anisha-Joy Holmes; two brothers, Merlin Burchette and Anthony Burchette of VA Beach, VA; five sisters, Anita Berry of Chesapeake, VA, Rita Walker of North Carolina, Christine Holmes of Bridgeport, CT, Sandra Burchette-Harrison of Ebony, VA, and Denise Hall of Trumball, CT; along with several grandchildren, cousins and a host of friends.
