Mr. Don Edward McBride

Don Edward McBride was born on July 13, 1952 in Sumter, South Carolina to the late James and Blanche Watkins McBride. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Lexington Medical Center.

Don was an unforgettable character, brightening every room he entered with his infectious laugh, hand clapping, whistling and his occasional singing. “Mr. Don”, as he was affectionately known, left an imprint wherever he went. He was loved by many friends and phenomenal caretakers at The Babcock Center.

Don was a member of Unionville African Methodist Episcopal Church in Mayesville, South Carolina. He and his family have served faithfully in this church for over forty years. 

In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by his sister, Lois McBride and brother, Reverend Billy B. McBride.

Don leaves to cherish his memory two brothers, Sammy Eugene (Ella Mae) McBride of Sumter, SC and Andrew James McBride of Columbia, SC; one sister-in-law, Kathaleen B. McBride;  three nephews, Gerry McBride of Camden, SC, Sammy (Kimberly) McBride Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK and William (Anshawnquenette) McBride of Bordentown, NJ; five nieces, Angela (Eric) Ramsey and Anita (Joseph) Tobiere both of Sumter, SC, Kylie V. McBride and Susan (LeRohn) Stokes both of Columbia, SC and Blanche (Kevin) Hampton of Laurel, Maryland; one aunt, Thomasina (Jimmy) Anderson of Sumter, SC; a host of loving family, friends and loving caretakers at The Babcock Center.
