Minister Verdia Lucille Hipp-Davis

Minister Verdia Lucille Reese Hipp-Davis was born December 3, 1939, to the late William Bell Reese and Hannah Buie Reese. She gracefully transitioned from her earthly journey to her heavenly home on July 19, 2018.

Minister Verdia Hipp-Davis was educated in the public schools of Richland County and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.  While at Booker T. Washington, she ran track and was a majorette for the school band. She loved fishing, gardening and cooking.

Minister Hipp-Davis accepted salvation and joined St. Peter Holiness Church.  She later joined God’s Church of Deliverance and was a fervent prayer warrior. Minister Hipp-Davis was instrumental in starting a prayer and bible study group in 1986, upon which the church, “God’s Church of Deliverance”, was established on August 10, 1986.  The first church service was held in her home.  She was a devoted and faithful member. Minister Hipp-Davis was called into the service of God and was ordained as a Minister of Jesus Christ on May 29, 1994.

Minister Hipp-Davis will especially be remembered for being a witness for Christ. She did street witnessing and diligently handed out tracks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Fred Hipp; one daughter, Phyllis J. Hipp; infant, Antonette M. Davis; four brothers, Earl Reese, Jamerson Reese, Richard Reese, and Robert Reese; one sister, Beatrice Reese.

Minister Verdia Hipp-Davis leaves to cherish her precious memories her two daughters, Fredreaner Hipp-Williams and Sherry Grant of Columbia, South Carolina; one son, Zion Bernard Davis of California; two sisters, Evelyn Reese Montgomery of Columbia, South Carolina and Oretha Grant of Lumberton, North Carolina; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
