Deacon David Roberson

August 1, 1935 ~ June 6, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Deacon David Lee Roberson was born August 1, 1935 to the late Dave Roberson and the late Mable Rodwell Green in Vance County, North Carolina. He departed this life suddenly, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at his home in Blythewood, South Carolina.

David was educated in the Vance County Public Schools. He joined Big Ruin Creek Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where he was an active member until he moved to New Jersey. He was employed by the Rahway New Jersey Board of Education, retiring after many years of service.

After his retirement, he continued to work as a landlord over his many properties both in New Jersey and South Carolina. He became an avid farmer, growing vegetables and farm animals. He loved singing on the choir at his home church and when visiting other churches. He loved the Lord with all his heart.

When David moved to Blythewood, South Carolina, he joined New Free Hope Independent Church and later changed his membership to Mount Zion Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two daughters, Bronetta Wright and Wilhelmina Timmons; one son, Larry Darnell; two brothers, Jimmy Jones and Melvin Wright; six sisters, Ruth Dunston, Alice Covington, Annie Mae Davis, Maureen Edmondson, Algene Hanks and Mary Dunston.

Those left to cherish his precious memory are his wife, Carolyn Arthur Roberson; one daughter,  Melba (David) Anderson of Cresco, PA; one son, Dave Roberson of Marietta, GA; a grandson he raised, Jerry Jones; three sisters, Mildred (James) Fuller, Esther Hawley and Geraldine Champion, all of Henderson, NC; caregiver,  Ramona Annette Huff; one son-in-law, Jerry Timmons of Henderson, NC; two sisters-in-law,  Dorothy Bowers and Martha (Rudolph) Chavis both of Blythewood, SC; three brothers-in-law, Marshall Dunston, Douglas (Bobbie) Arthur of Blythewood, SC and David Robinson of Sumter, SC; step-sisters and brothers, Mildred Jean Green, Rosa Mae Taylor, Cora L. Black, Virginia Young, Diane Green, Patricia Green, Clarence Green and Ronald Green; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews some of which he loved as his own, Horace Brame, Carolyn Brown, Bobby Henderson, James Henderson and Eunice Taylor; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
